Finally found a person at a phone store in Myrtle Beach, SC ,who knew a whole lot about iphone problems, his name was Jamal Tucker. Gotta say, Verizon has been a whole lot better for us than ATT which was awful in every possible way. I've also found the verizon phone help line much easier to deal with than lots of companies, less annoying and again, the people actually seem to know stuff.
