Can I change my coverages online?

Yes. You may request changes to your coverages online and they will be forwarded to your agent for processing.

To request changes, follow these steps:

  • Log into your account.
  • Select the policy you want to change.
  • Click Quote/Change Coverages.
  • Select the coverages you would like to change and click Continue.
  • Review changes and click Continue to approve.
  • Enter Contact Information and click Continue.
  • Review changes and click Submit.
Can I change my agent online?

Yes. You can log on to your Policies and Accounts, and click “Change Agent” located on the left below your agent’s photo. Most changes take effect within five to seven business days.

How to cancel insurance policy?

Cancel by phone

Contact your local State Farm agent and explain that you’d like to cancel your policy. You’ll typically need your policy number, name, and date of birth. If you’re canceling because you’ve sold your vehicle, you might also need to provide proof of your vehicle’s plate forfeiture or a bill of sale.

For auto policy cancellations only, you can call 800-STATEFARM.

Cancel by mail

Sign, date and mail your letter at least two weeks before your intended cancellation date, leaving time for delivery and processing, to the address below.

After an accident the local State Farm agent (Emily) in Hickory, North Carolina, was the very best person you could ask for after the trauma of an accident. She explained everything clearly, she made arrangements quickly, and she kept me informed every step of the way. I haven’t had an accident in decades (and hope I never do again), but if I do, I hope Emily is still there.
